Plot: World War II, fall 1941. Soldiers of 11th east Czechoslovakian battalion are sent to the town Tobruk in North-African country of Libya besieged by Germans and Italians.
A young soldier Georges Pospichal is part of this detachment. His naïve and idealistic ideas of heroism and war are challenged by the unbearable hell of the African desert. Every day his life threatened and death can happen at any moment. This makes him progressively lose his own respect and courage.
